What's new in 1.1.13.
Doza Assist 1.1.13 is the testers' release. Every item in it comes from mail sent in October by the editors using the app, and the first one is the reason it ships this week: a story built in Chat and sent to Final Cut Pro no longer crashes Final Cut when you click a marker. Around it: a renamed collection keeps its analysis, clips and stories; painting the same passage twice no longer doubles the clip, and a highlight says where it went; the Clips tab becomes the Clip Library, deletes a selection and names its export; the Projects page gets Relink and Reset; two speakers with one name can be merged; any Gemma 4 size can be chosen, with a badge when it is over spec for the Mac, and a model that is not one of them can at last be deleted. Every edition is the same app, and Studio adds Share.
How to get it. Direct download: choose Check for Updates… in the app menu, or download it. FxFactory edition: everything below ships there as 1.1.14; update through the FxFactory app. Studio: the matching Studio build carries everything below.

1Final Cut Pro: markers on exported clips
Clicking a marker on an exported timeline no longer crashes Final Cut Pro. A story built in Chat and sent to Final Cut as a timeline carried a chapter marker on every clip, and the marker's note held the whole editorial note, a paragraph long. Final Cut opens a popover with a marker's name and note when you click it, and crashed on that one. Every exported clip now carries a plain marker with the clip's name and one line of note; the full words of the clip stay where they were, in the clip's Notes field.
- The same bound applies to Selects exports with markers, to collection stories, to the markers-only export the app writes when the media is offline, and to the markers the round-trip export puts on an imported Final Cut timeline.
- Marker names are cut at a word, notes at a sentence or a word, each with an ellipsis, and never in the middle of a quote or an ampersand.
- A timeline imported from Final Cut and sent back with clips keeps every connected item (an adjustment layer, a title) on the frame grid, so Final Cut no longer warns about frame boundaries on import. Each clip also carries its colour label (or Social Clip, Story Beat, Soundbite) and its speaker as keywords.
2Collections keep their work through a rename
Renaming a collection changes its name and nothing else. Renaming the folder on the Projects page used to refile the interviews one by one and leave the collection's analysis, clips and stories under the old name: the collection page then built everything again, and the clips you had sent to Story Builder had to be sent again. The Projects page now renames the collection the way the collection's own details dialog does, and the analysis, clips, stories and chat come along.
- A folder without a collection renames in one step as well (one call for the folder instead of one per project).
- A name another collection already uses is refused with a sentence instead of merging the two.
3Clip Library
The Clips tab is now the Clip Library. Every clip you highlight in the transcript, pull from Chat, add from AI Analysis or from the Story Brief lands there, and a line under its title says so. The name is the same on a project and on a collection.
Painting the same passage again no longer adds a copy. A second drag over a highlight, or a re-click on one, used to add another identical clip every time (one tester had nine). Now the same colour says Already in Clip Library and pulses the clip it already is; a different colour recolours the clip instead of doubling it; a longer drag over the same passage extends the clip. A project that already holds copies is cleaned up by its next save.
One rule for whether a clip is in there. The + buttons in AI Analysis, on Chat's clip cards and in the Story Brief all check the library the same way (start and end within half a second) and stay ticked: ✓ In Clip Library survives a tab change, a reload and a replayed chat, and goes back to + when you delete the clip. The Add-all buttons say what they did, Added 4 to Clip Library · 2 already in, with an Open Clip Library link.
A highlight says where it went. Painting words shows Added to Clip Library with an Open Clip Library link, the tab carries its count, and the hint above the transcript says that a highlight becomes a clip.
Sorted by time, or your order. A label beside the clip count says which. Drag a clip and it reads Your order; choose Sort by time and it flips back. A collection remembers the choice with its clips.
Delete selected. Check clips and remove them in one step, on a project and on a collection. One undo step on a project.
Export says what it is doing. A Timeline name field beside the Export button is prefilled with the automatic, numbered name; type your own to use it as is. The toast says how many clips went out and how long they run, names the file, and offers Reveal in Finder, also when the timeline went straight to your NLE.
The Story Brief reads like a brief. An intro line says what the brief is for, each section says what its moments are good for, and every moment section has its own Add all to Clip Library.
4Projects page and Relink
Each row has Rename, Relink and Reset. Relink points the project at a moved or renamed source file from the Projects page, with the same length check the project page makes. Reset is the old Clear with a name that says what it does: the transcript and analysis go, the project starts over from its file, and the file is never touched. Move to folder, Reveal in Finder and Delete moved into a ⋯ menu on the row.
A missing source file says what still works. The notice on a project whose media has moved now names the old path, says that the transcript, AI Analysis and Chat still work while playback, Transcribe again and exports need the file, and offers Relink media… right there. The Relink dialog reports a file dialog that failed instead of doing nothing.
5Speakers
One interviewer name across projects. The Interviewer name you type on a new project is remembered as the default the next project starts with, on the Projects page and in the import queue. The placeholder is never remembered.
Merge two speakers. When speaker identification splits one person into two labels, give the second row the first one's name and the Speakers panel offers to merge them: every line moves to the kept speaker and stays put through a later detection run, the automatic names forget the merged label, and the analysis is marked behind the transcript so a Re-run picks up the change. Decline, and the two keep one name as before.
Every speaker row says where they speak. Each row carries its line count and speaking time, a jump button that scrolls the transcript to that speaker's next line (shift-click for the previous one; the colour dot goes to the first), and a Merge into… control that names both rows and their counts before it merges.
Automatic naming is a choice. Two switches under the Speakers rows: turn off automatic naming after transcribing (the Find speaker names button still works on demand), or label by role only (Interviewer, Participant 1, 2…) with no model run at all.
6My Style
Delete names the profile it deletes. The Danger zone on a My Style page deleted the profile shown on that page, while its wording suggested the one ticked for AI suggestions. The sentence now says the profile shown above, the button reads Delete this profile…, and the confirmation names the profile, counts its imported pieces and their minutes, and says when it is the one your suggestions use.
7AI models
Any Gemma 4 size can be chosen; a badge says when it is over spec. 1.1.12 refused a model that did not fit the Mac and quietly moved a saved pick down to one that did. 1.1.13 puts the choice back in your hands: the AI setup window marks the best size for this Mac Recommended for this Mac, and every other size can still be chosen or downloaded, with a badge that says May be too heavy for this Mac · needs ~20 GB, this Mac has 16 GB. The badge follows the pick to the project's gear menu, so you always know what you are running. The app never downloads a large model on its own: start-up and repairs still pick what fits.
A model that is not one of the Gemma 4 sizes can be deleted. A downloaded model from before the Gemma 4 switch (a 27B, about 18 GB) disappeared from the window altogether: it could be neither used nor deleted. The AI setup window now lists such models under Other models on this Mac, with their size, the reason (Too large for this Mac with the memory it would need, or Not used by Doza Assist) and a Delete button with the same Are-you-sure dialog as the Gemma 4 rows.
8Which tab is for what
Chat, Story Brief or Story Builder? Rest the pointer on any tab and it says what the tab is for: Chat answers questions and hands you playable clips (for finding moments); Story Brief is a producer's read of the whole interview (for deciding how to cut); Story Builder assembles a sequence to a runtime (for the rough cut). The user guide says the same in a callout at the top of the workflow.
Create Collection says how long it has left. Once one interview has been analyzed, the button on the Projects page shows a rough time left for the rest, from the time the finished interviews took per minute of media. The import queue shows the same time left when it builds the collection, and each queue row says which engine will transcribe it for its language.
9FxFactory edition
Get 1.1.14. The FxFactory edition carries everything on this page as version 1.1.14, which FxFactory offers as an update. Licensing and purchases in the FxFactory edition go through FxFactory.
10For the curious
- Importing multicam clips straight from a Final Cut event export was checked against the 1.1.1 import: a whole-event export is read, the camera and recorder clips a multicam is built from are skipped as its parts, and the rest of the event is offered as optional rows. The guide now says so.
- Build support can pin another version of the bundled model server for a test line (the MLX-engine question for very large batches); the shipping version is unchanged until a build on that line has been measured.
- About 330 new tests cover the marker bounds, the folder rename, the duplicate-clip guard, the other-models list, the speaker merge, the interviewer default, the export reveal, the model badges, the frame-grid re-snap, the Clip Library marks, the naming preferences and the speaker rows.
