The first release of Doza Cuts. Drop a multicam XML from Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve on the window and get the episode back, switched to whoever is talking. What Doza Cuts does →
- Cameras match themselves to voices. Doza Cuts listens to each mic and watches each camera with Apple’s Vision framework, matching mouth motion to voices, so it works out which camera frames which speaker, which camera is the wide, and which files are one camera that stopped and started. There is nothing to map; Swap cameras fixes a wrong face.
- Multicams without lavs. With only the cameras’ own sound, or a mixdown, it reads who is talking off the mouths. A recorder’s multitrack file is split into one mic per channel, and two lavs plugged into one camera’s inputs count as two mics.
- Four styles. Conversational, Fast, Interview and Custom set the shortest shot, how long a reaction holds, when crosstalk goes to the wide and how often a long answer cuts away.
- Smart punch-in. Medium and Tight framings carved from the speaker’s own camera, following the face, never past the camera’s lossless limit unless you allow a slight upscale.
- Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve. Final Cut gets live multicam cuts, and Open in Final Cut brings them into your open library. Resolve gets a flattened timeline with the mics connected underneath, and Send to Resolve imports it in Resolve Studio.
- Batch. Drop several XMLs, a folder, or one XML holding several multicam clips: each clip is a queue item, cut one after another, with its own style if you like.
- Every common frame rate, 23.976 to 60 fps, drop-frame and non-drop, including cameras at a different rate from the timeline. Rotated phone footage, 4:3 cameras and variable frame rate clips are read the way Final Cut shows them.
- Plain answers. A file Doza Cuts can’t cut gets one sentence saying why and what to do. A multicam with only one shared mic is caught before any work starts. Cancel stops at once, and a cut never overwrites anything: the next one is
_CUTS (2). - Free trial and license. Unlicensed, Doza Cuts is the full app for three exports, and the header shows how many are left. Buy it at doza.ai and paste the key from the receipt email into Doza Cuts › License…; a key works on two Macs and never expires. Doza Cuts checks the key on your Mac and asks doza.ai once to count the Mac; if doza.ai can’t be reached, the key works anyway and the activation finishes later. After that it asks doza.ai about once a day, when you’re online, whether the key is still valid, and keeps working whenever it can’t ask. Deactivate This Mac frees a Mac’s place.
- Bought through FxFactory? A purchase or a register code in the FxFactory app unlocks Doza Cuts within a minute (at once when it comes to the front); nothing to enter.
- On your Mac, offline. Cutting never needs the network. No analytics, no telemetry, no account. The app connects to doza.ai only to check for updates (the doza.ai version, which sends no install ID) and, once a key is entered, to check the license; nothing about your work goes with either. If something breaks, Report a Problem prepares an email with the report attached, and nothing goes unless you press Send.
- Made to be learned in a minute. A three-step welcome, Quick Start and Requirements in the Help menu, Settings for the style you start with, Return to cut, ⌘O to open the result, and VoiceOver labels on every control.
- AI assistants, optional. Claude Desktop and ChatGPT for Mac can inspect, cut and list cuts through a local connection once you switch access on under Help › AI assistants. Off by default.
- Drag to install. A signed, notarized disk image: drag Doza Cuts to Applications.
